From Tuesday to Wednesday, I attended the Application Component Detailed Design training. I enjoyed my training. I learned a lot from my teacher Fiel Sioson Javier. He’s really a great teacher.
Since most of the topics in our training are all about Object Oriented Programming (OOP), I was able to relate. He asked questions about Java modifiers. I answered one of his questions. One of his questions that I answered correctly is: “What is meant by protected modifier in Java programming?”. I answered it correctly and he said “That’s very good answer!”. I was proud for I was recognized for that.
Application Component Detailed Design training is all about how you create detailed design of the applications. Before the programmer codes, he/she need the Detailed design for him/her to proceed coding. My knowledge about the stages of software development has increased through this training.
The training not only taught me stuffs about software development but it also gave me a chance to meet people from different places. I was able to make friends with 4 people in the training. After the training, I had 4 friends that increased my network.
This week is one of the best week I ever experienced.
From Tuesday to Friday, there were many things to be done at work.
When I was working so hard, I realized that I will be sick if I will work until dawn everyday. Since I want to have a happy and long life, I always think of ways/idea on how to get rich without working hard but working smart.
Last February 27, 2010, my project-mates in the office and I had a team building at Punto Miguel, San Juan, Batangas. We left Metro Manila at 6:45AM and I arrived at Punto Miguel at 11.45AM.
As we arrived, we ate our lunch after about 20 minutes. Punto Miguel staffs served as a very delicious chicken. I enjoyed eating chicken. After eating lunch, we sang 35 songs in Punto Miguel’s videoke.
There’s a beautiful beach in Punto Miguel. I did not swim there but I rather watch people playing volleyball in the seashore.
At 4PM, our project manager hosted a game for us. We played different kinds of games. All of us enjoyed the game.
At 5:45PM, I left Punto Miguel and went back home. I realized that Punto Miguel is very far from towns and cities. Thanks to our project manager for she brought me to the town of San Juan using her Crosswind. From San Juan, I rode in a van going to Lipa City, Bantangas. When I arrived at Lipa City, Batangas, I rode in a bus going to Cubao. Finally, I arrived home at about 9:45PM. It took more than 3 hours for me to travel from Punto Miguel to Metro Manila.
Though I didn’t stay overnight with them, I still felt the happiness brought by our team building in Punto Miguel. It’s really a very nice experience.
From February 15, 2010 to February 19, 2010, I worked at the office for 9 hours everyday. I’m so grateful this week for we were able to finish our development task. We used our knowledge/skills in UNIX shell scripting and Oracle PL/SQL to complete our task.
Last February 7, 2010, I stayed in our boarding house. From 12 noon until 8PM, I worked with my new web application development. I was using PHP with MySQL.
I am developing web application that will let users to say thank you everyday for everything they received and for every good things that happened to them. This web application will be released as soon as I finish.
After working with this project for 8 hours, I was able to do the following:
1. Designed the database
2.Registration form for the system
3. Developed login/logout for the system.
4. Developed page that will let logged in users to say thank you.
I’m very thankful for week #6 is a very wonderful week for me.
Last February 03, 2010, I helped my friend Earl Jann Escano to finish his thesis. We started doing his thesis at around 11:30PM. Before we started, we watched movie. We officially started at 11:30PM.
We used two laptops to test the application he developed. I helped him on how to transfer the files from one laptop to another using Java program. I also taught him how to connect to remote MySQL server. I enjoyed teaching my friend without knowing that it was already 7AM. We did not notice that it was already 7AM. Since it’s already morning, I rushed to my boarding house and slept until 11AM. I arrived at the office at 12 noon. I was late but I informed my supervisors that I’ll be late. My friend was very thankful for all the knowledge I shared with him.
Last Monday, January 25, 2010, I helped my friend who is a college student. He’s taking up BS Computer Science. He’s doing his thesis and he asked me if I could help him. I extended my helping hand for I know that I can make him happy if I’m going to help him. He used Java programming language in the application he develops. I helped him not only in Java programming but also in normalizing his database tables for the application. I taught him some tips in MySQL and Java. I helped him from Monday night until Tuesday morning around 2AM. By the way, name of my friend is Earl Jann Escaño.
Last Monday, January 18, 2010, I went to office again. I went back to work after a happy weekend. I worked for nine hours. I started to visit National Bookstore on this day. I read the “Science of Getting Rich” book by Wallace Wattles. I love to read the books about getting rich because I want to be a millionaire. It’s my dream to have a very nice house and a very nice car. I want to be an investor. My dream is to work if I want. Working is optional. I want to earn money even if I sleep.
Last Tuesday, I attended the UNIX brownbag conducted in our company. It’s conducted by Marc Rafanan. Though it’s very familiar to me, I still attended the brownbag. There were topics covered which I was not familiar with. In the afternoon, Clarisse Capisonda and I bought two big pizza at Niro. It’s our treat for our coworkers because we celebrated
our birthday last December 26, 2009. Last Tuesday is an extended celebration of our birthday. Both Clarisse and I were born in December 26. She’s born in 1984 while I was born in 1985.
Last Saturday, Miraflor and I went to the wedding of my cousin Regie Caldito. I gave a gift to my cousin. Regie is a nice friend and cousin. He helped me when I needed to go to UST (University of Sto. Tomas). He was my guide when I went to UST in 2004. I was not familiar to the places in Metro Manila in 2004 since I lived in the province. Thanks for him for he guided me for two weeks. I can’t forget his help. I’m very thankful for I have cousin like him who is very eager to help me.
Last January 11, 2010, I went back to work. It’s Monday but I was looking forward to weekend again. I love weekend for that’s the time when I can play and relax. I worked for nine hours. I enjoy what I am doing at work for I learn new things everyday.
Last January 15, I received my paycheck. I paid all my bills that day and I sent money to my parents in the province. I’m always grateful for everything that I received. I believe that feeling grateful is a good sign that more blessings will come in my way.
Week #2 of this year was very busy. There were so many tasks but I was still happy for I have lots of friends in the office. They made me smile. I have many friends around me that made me happy.
January 04, 2010 was our first day of work for year 2010. I went to office early to continue my task. It’s all about Java internationalization. I know that many Java programmers have experienced doing Java internationalization. I learned so many things about formatting dates using different Locales.
From January 04, 2010 to January 08, 2010, I worked at the office to finish our task. Fortunately, we were able to finish our task on January 08, 2010.
