Week #25 Year 2010 Ben Millionaire Experience – Very Busy Week

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

From June 21, 2010 to June 25, 2010, I worked hard in the office. I learned lots of things about Java programming. Everyday, I am excited to go to office because I learn new things everyday. I also enjoy communicating with the clients. It’s a very nice experience.

In the office, I always find time to learn. I didn’t also forget to smile even if there were times that I can’t solve my task. I always try to become optimistic.

TGIF Week 20 Year 2010 – Reading Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

Saturday, May 22nd, 2010

Last May 21, 2010, I went to office. There’s no assigned task to me so I read Java programming e-book. When I felt bored, I read “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. I learned something about making decisions. Napoleon Hill quoted this statement: “Deeds, and not words, are what count most”. This statement is absolutely correct.

In the afternoon, my sister sent me a bad news. She told me that my cousin Johny De Leon passed away. I felt sad. When I learned that my cousin passed away, I started reminiscing the good times we had. I felt very sad about what happened to my cousin. I realized that we’ll never know when we will die. While we’re alive, let’s be thankful. While we’re alive, let’s enjoy every moment of our life. While we’re alive, let’s do good things to everyone.

TGIF Week 14 Year 2010 – Enjoying Holiday and featuring Tronix

Friday, April 9th, 2010

Last April 09, 2010, it’s holiday here in the Philippines. It’s “Araw ng Kagitingan” or Day of Valor. Since it’s holiday, we don’t have work in the office.

I spent my friday vacation with my friends in Highway Hills. I also took the opportunity to enhance my skills in Java programming by reading Java books. I also gave time to visit Star Mall in Mandaluyong City, Philippines. When I was walking in the mall, I thought of printing one of my pictures from my mobile phone. I saw the Tronix, a small store in the mall that offers printing of photos from phone. I sent my pictures to their machine via Bluetooth. After sending the pictures, they immediately printed the photos. They charged me 5 Philippine Peso (PHP) for each 3R copy of the photo. I found out that it’s the cheapest service charge for printing photos. High quality photos were printed for me.

To Tronix, thank you for the best service you offered to me and to all your customers. :)

Week #12 Year 2010 Ben Millionaire Experience – Work work work…

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

From Monday (March 22) to Tuesday (March 23), we were very busy in the office. We were updating the copyright headers of our codes. I worked hard. I did my best to finish my task. Fortunately, we were able to deliver the codes that need to be delivered last Tuesday.

From Wednesday (March 24) to Friday(March 26), I was working on my new task. It’s quite difficult. I need one week more to finish everything in my task. In order to finish that task, you have to have skills in Oracle PL/SQL, Oracle SQL and Java programming. Luckily, I have those skills.

On Saturday (March 27), it’s time to relax. I spent my weekend with my friends. We watched boxing videos (manny pacquiao fights). From 8:30PM to 9:30PM, I turned off the lights in my boarding house for joining the Earth Hour.

Week #10 Year 2010 Ben Millionaire Experience – Application Component Detailed Design Training

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

From Tuesday to Wednesday, I attended the Application Component Detailed Design training. I enjoyed my training. I learned a lot from my teacher Fiel Sioson Javier. He’s really a great teacher.

Since most of the topics in our training are all about Object Oriented Programming (OOP), I was able to relate. He asked questions about Java modifiers. I answered one of his questions. One of his questions that I answered correctly is: “What is meant by protected modifier in Java programming?”. I answered it correctly and he said “That’s very good answer!”. I was proud for I was recognized for that. :)

Application Component Detailed Design training is all about how you create detailed design of the applications. Before the programmer codes, he/she need the Detailed design for him/her to proceed coding. My knowledge about the stages of software development has increased through this training.

The training not only taught me stuffs about software development but it also gave me a chance to meet people from different places. I was able to make friends with 4 people in the training. After the training, I had 4 friends that increased my network.

This week is one of the best week I ever experienced.

Week #5 Year 2010 Ben Millionaire Experience

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

Last February 03, 2010, I helped my friend Earl Jann Escano to finish his thesis. We started doing his thesis at around 11:30PM. Before we started, we watched movie. We officially started at 11:30PM.

We used two laptops to test the application he developed. I helped him on how to transfer the files from one laptop to another using Java program. I also taught him how to connect to remote MySQL server. I enjoyed teaching my friend without knowing that it was already 7AM. We did not notice that it was already 7AM. Since it’s already morning, I rushed to my boarding house and slept until 11AM. I arrived at the office at 12 noon. I was late but I informed my supervisors that I’ll be late. My friend was very thankful for all the knowledge I shared with him.

Finalizing Thesis

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

I’m now here at the house of my friend. I’m helping my friend and his teammate to finalize their thesis. They’re BS Computer Science students from New Era University. From the start of their thesis, I served as their adviser. I hope that I contributed for the success of their thesis.

I remembered when they asked my help. I really appreciate students who seek advice in a respectful manner. Since I want people to be happy, I didn’t refuse to help them. I taught them basics of Structured Query Language in MySQL and other stuffs about Java programming. Although I’m not that good in Java programming, I tried to share what I know. I am teaching them for free for I want to help them. I was once a student and I know the feeling of having a good mentor.

I remembered my college days when my special adviser Rolando J. Andico asked me to learn Linux, MySQL, Oracle, and PHP. I’m very grateful for I met people who have helped me to develop my skills in the field of Information Technology. This time, I’m just sharing what I learned from my mentors.
